The monthly meeting of the San Ramon Valley Democratic Club will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 28 at Muddd’s Restaurant in San Ramon. Our speaker will be Krysta Morganthaler, Director of Development for Habitat East Bay. “Make Hope Happen” is the project name for the construction of sustainable, affordable housing for low-income families on lands currently being turned from agricultural use to urban housing. Habitat is now building in the Livermore area, and on February 24 will dedicate seven recently completed houses that are well insulated and environmentally adapted to their site. These will be opened to the public for viewing on that date, and there will be an “Awarding of the Keys” ceremony to their new owners.
Come and hear Krysta talk about Habitat’s plans for the Livermore Valley. Habitat for the EastBay and Mount Diablo Habitat have recently joined forces to achieve economies in building, and political clout in site selections. Krysta can tell us all the steps, from acquiring lands to completing houses. It’s a once-daring idea turned into real homes for real people and she’ll tell us how it’s done.
